Beautiful Eyes | Mantis Shrimp

The mantis shrimp has quite beautiful and unusual eyes.  While humans have 3 photoreceptors, mantis shrimp have 16 photoreceptors and can see in ultra violet, visible and polarised light while moving each eye independently.  This mantis shrimp is hidden in the sand waiting to catch any prey that passes by.  These are some of the marine life we may see on a scuba diving trip with Wild Kenya Safaris.

Beautiful Eyes | flathead

A flathead fish body is flat and wide from its dorsal fin to its mouth, which means that the beautiful eyes of the flathead fish are both facing upwards.  Since flatheads prefer to burry themselves in the sand, having eyes on top of their heads means they can see what prey is passing overtop of them to grab.  These are some of the marine life we may see on a scuba diving trip with Wild Kenya Safaris.
