Hippos stick closely together in Maasai Mara to keep themselves warm

At the crack of dawn, you will tend to find the hippos in Mara river all cuddled up together as the nights get cold and water temperature drops. Sticking so closely together helps to keep the surrounding water warmer with all their body heat while reinforcing family bonds at the same time.
